Posture of dependence

A previous BSF group leader shared how prayer is essentially a posture of dependence. Just as the Israelites were dependent on God to provide their daily manna, she asks for Joy every morning. I may think God’s watching and shaking His head, “You’re coming to me for this… again??” but nothing could be further from the truth. Prayer is not overcoming God’s reluctance, but laying hold of His willingness.

“Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! – Matthew 7:9-11
